Plot Synopsis

FROSTED GLASS

Daniel Lacon (Andrew Dowbiggin: Casualty BBC, Emmerdale ITV, Cilla ITV) has Asperger’s Syndrome. He has had a book of poems published; poems he wrote initially as a way of coping with his condition. He is interviewed by journalist Jenny (Rebecca Hutchinson: Emmerdale ITV, Doctors BBC) who at first appears to be somewhat ignorant of his situation and there is friction between them. Daniel tells his story and through a series of stylised flashbacks, we see how he has struggled with Asperger’s syndrome since childhood and has been discriminated against and hurt repeatedly, by various members of society that marginalised him. Listening to his story, Jenny becomes ever more involved and entangled in his memories and by looking at life through Daniel’s eyes, she begins to make sense of her own troubles. In a dramatic conclusion we realise that perhaps the two have more in common than they ever thought possible…
